Katie has a beautiful diamond teal pattern on A and text from The Wind in the Willows on it’s B side. I’m going to tell you about the fun new line from October Afternoon called “Night Light.” With names like Louie (the green monster), Charles ( the blue monster), Ellie (the orange monster–who apparently doesn’t think monsters should scare children), Henry (the light green monster), and Jack and Katie (the kids that need the night light), how could you not fall in love with these fun papers? Louie has all the monsters with pencil line drawings of a child’s room on side A and a funky 1980s green and white pattern on B. Ooops, I was supposed to post yesterday, and I totally spaced it. Unfortunately, we don’t ship products out, but if you’re local and can’t wait to get your hands on this line, you can call the store to let us know you’re interested and we’ll call you when the product arrives. Weathervane should be arriving in the store in a few weeks.

If you want to see more details on Weathervane or any of October Afternoon’s other lines, click here to download a copy of their catalog (it’s in PDF format). The background grid is from October Afternoon’s Detours collection, which was released last winter, and the chipboard letters and leaves are American Crafts. This layout features two of the patterned papers and some of the stickers. Here’s a layout I did using the Weathervane line: The background grid is a page from October Afternoon’s Label Journal mini album and the letters and chipboard dots are American Crafts Thickers. I handcut the houses and trees from the paper and used pop dots to raise the houses off the page. Here’s a card I made using the “Cozy Home” paper from the Weathervane line:

The colors are absolutely perfect for the season if you can imagine a forest full of every color of fall leaf backed by a glorious fall sky filled with fluffy clouds you’ve got the color palette in mind. Given my love of fall, it’s no wonder I fell in love with October Afternoon’s soon-to-be-released Weathervane collection. I love the crisp fall air, brightly colored leaves, and new warm sweaters. That’s just fine with me since fall is my favorite season. I don’t know about anyone else, but the weather this week has certainly made me realize that summer is coming to an end and fall is right around the corner.

Compared to other die-cutting machines it’s very reasonably priced, it’s very portable, and the cartridges won’t break the bank and offer lots of fun fonts and shapes. If you’re considering a die-cutting machine – for the holidays or just because – the Slice is a great choice. Instead of reaching for chipboard shapes I’m finding myself reaching for patterned paper or cardstock, cutting shapes with the Slice, and attaching some of them with pop dots for added dimension, like I did with the hearts in this layout here: I’ve also used the Slice to make embellishments for layouts. I used my Slice to make Thanksgiving placecards, layering turkey shapes and leaves from the Fall/Back to School cartridge and adding tags from the Basic Shapes 1 cartridge tied with American Crafts’ ribbon : I’ve never before owned a die-cutting machine and now can’t imagine life without one! The Slice comes with the fun Basic Shapes 1 cartridge that has several alpha sets and lots of – you guessed it – basic shapes (like stars, circles, hearts, frames, tags, etc.) I’ve also bought the Fall/Back to School cartridge, which has more alphas and lots of great themed shapes (leaves, a turkey, school supplies, etc.).
